EE Just hosts a series of events throughout the school year that aim to build a supportive community for underrepresented biomedical graduate students through monthly meetings, social events, academic and professional opportunities, community service, and more. We also collaborate with various student groups and organizations throughout Penn to facilitate communion and conversations about issues within and outside of science. Examples of our events include:
General Assembly Meetings
Every month, we host a lunch meeting for EE Just students in which we get a chance to unwind and discuss our joys and struggles of graduate school, hear from guest speakers inside and outside of academia, and build fellowship with one another.
Welcome Back Dinner
Each September, we welcome back EE Just members and welcome new members over a dinner at one of Philadelphia's great restaurants.
EE Just/BGSA Cell 600 Happy Hour
After the first year graduate students complete their first Cell Biology and Biochemistry (Cell 600) exam, EE Just and BGSA put together a pizza and drinks happy hour for the entire BGS student body to celebrate.
Academic and Professional Development Events
We host lunches to bring together current EE Just members with EE Just alumni, Penn professors, industry researchers, and more.
EE Just Fall/Spring Seminar Series
Our signature Seminar Series event brings esteemed faculty from other academic institutions to Penn for a luncheon with EE Just students and a keynote lecture.
Outreach and Recruitment Events
SUIP/PennPREP Ice Cream Social
EE Just brings together SUIP and PennPREP students for a trip to Capogiro for gelato, fellowship, and celebration for the end of summer.
Ronald McDonald House Guest Chef Breakfasts
