Ernest Monahan-Vargas

Co-President | Cellular and Molecular Biology (Developmental, Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology)

I am a 3rd year PhD student in Dr. Yuanquan Song's lab and I’m studying the role of an RNA repair and splicing pathway during axon regeneration. I’ve been a member of the EE Just Biomedical Society for a year, first in the recruitment committee and just recently as Recruitment Chair. My goal this year as Chair is to repeat the success of previous years in our different events and to work on events for our members focusing on the great sense of community EE Just offers.

Co-President | Cellular and Molecular Biology (Cancer Biology)

I'm a 4th year PhD student in Dr. Sandra Ryeom's lab and my thesis project focuses on the response of cells to the tumor microenvironment. I joined EE Just in 2013 and have taken up the mantle of being Co-President . My goal this year as Co-President is to continue the efforts of our past president to build a better sense of community between EE Just and the multiple graduate affinity groups on campus.

Recruitment Chair | Cellular and Molecular Biology (Gene Therapy and Vaccines)

I'm a 4th year PhD student in Beverly Davidson's lab focused on gene therapy for neurodegenerative disease. I've been a member of EE Just since 2013 and the Recruitment Chair since 2014. My goal this year as Recruitment Chair is to build a stronger alliance with faculty and administration.s

Vanessa Muñoz

Outreach Chair | Cellular and Molecular Biology (Microbiology, Virology, and Parasitology)

I am a 2nd year PhD student in Dr. Joseph St. Geme’s lab. My research project focuses on identifying and characterizing molecular determinants necessary for serum-resistance and immune evasion in the bacterial pathogen Kingella kingae. I've been a member of EE Just since 2014.

Niambi Brewer

Secretary | Cellular and Molecular Biology (Genetics and Gene Regulation)

I'm a 3rd year PhD student in Dr. Eileen Shore's lab and my thesis work focuses on the genetic causes and molecular mechanisms of cell fate decision in the context of a rare disorder of extra-skeletal bone formation. I joined EE Just in 2014 and this is my first year on the board. My goal this year is to increase membership interaction and with our group and with other graduate affinity groups

Annie Chen

Seminar Series Chair | Cellular and Molecular Biology (Microbiology, Virology and Parasitology)

I’m a 4th year in Mark Goulian’s lab, and my thesis project is focused on understanding how non-sporulating bacteria survive desiccation. My goal this year is to increase EE Just's visibility on campus and increase interactions with other student organizations.
