About the Ernest E. Just Biomedical Society

The Ernest E. Just Biomedical Society (EE Just) was established in 1997 through the diligence of biomedical students who recognized the significant need for the support of underrepresented minorities.

There are numerous efforts aimed at the recruitment of underrepresented minorities in science and medicine; however there seems to be little emphasis on retention. EE Just is an invaluable, supportive network for underrepresented minority PhD students, medical students, and post-doctorates/fellows at the University of Pennsylvania.

The major objective of our Society is a pluralistic approach to providing a motivating force in the networking, mentoring, and career development of tomorrow's scientific researchers. This objective provides a major resource for establishing and maintaining a compendium of minority researchers at all stages of their career, for potential recruiters in academia, industry, and government sectors.
